WHO HAS PATIENTS UNDER THEIR CARE WITH A RARE DISEASE FOR WHICH THERE HAS BEEN NO DEDICATED TREATMENT TO DATE?

EXPLORATORY RESEARCH

THE CLIENT’S BUSINESS OBJECTIVE:
The client planned to market a drug for a small population of patients with a rare disease. Given the lack of a dedicated therapeutic option, a key issue was to find out which specialists these patients were currently under the care of. A second important aspect was to estimate how many such patients there might be in Poland.

CHALLENGES
The lack of dedicated treatment also resulted in diagnostic problems – the condition was extremely rarely diagnosed.
In addition, there was no care pathway for such a patient in Poland.

PEX SOLUTION
Exploratory qualitative research. Thanks to Desk Research and close cooperation with the client, we identified the first specialists who had individual patients under their care. Using the snowball method, we reached out to the others.

DATA SOURCE
Individual Quality Interviews with doctors involved in the diagnostic and patient care process.

PROJECT RESULT
Gain as much information as possible on the situation of patients with this rare disease in Poland, both in terms of those responsible for therapeutic care and the diagnostic pathway.
